The Qt Project Goals help the Qt Project community - both contributors to and users of Qt - to focus on activities that we believe to be the most crucial for the near future. We are starting the Goals process in 2026, will use time until the Qt Contributors Summit to propose, refine, and vote for goals, and then announce the 3 focused goals at the summit in Oslo.
This is inspired by the KDE Goals process, and we adapt the idea, structure, and process largely from there. We specifically want to make sure that every Goal has a *Goal Champion*, i.e. a community member who is the face and primary driver of a goal, from the initial proposal through to its conclusion.
The timeline:
- July 16th-August 30th: Submit your goal proposals
- September 1st-15th: refinement of proposed goals
- September 15th-October 19th: Voting opens
- October 28th: Goals for 2026-2027 announced at Qt Contributors Summit in Oslo
We are using Jira for submitting Goal proposals and for managing the voting process; not everything will be perfect, but it will be transparent.
Have a look at the list of proposals.
